Sara Evans Restless Tour 2003

Sara

On Wednesday, August 6, I went to Clio, MI to see Sara Evans on her Restless tour. It rained most of the way driving there, but stopped just as we got to Clio. It was weird that it worked out that way. We got there at 6:30 and the show was starting at 8:00. I went to the will call window and picked up my meet & greet pass. Then I went to the merchandise booth. I was disappointed that they weren't selling many things. I was especially disappointed that they didn't have any pictures for sale. So, I just got a shirt. Then I found the seats, which were 4th row. They were pretty good seats.

Kellie Coffey was supposed to open for Sara, but had to cancel a few days before because her dad was sick. John Berry took her place. I wasn't really familiar with him. He got on the stage at 8:00. He was pretty good. At 8:30 I left my seat to get in the meet & greet line. The line was pretty long. It had about 30 people in it. The people who were contest winners got to go to the front of the line. I think they were only allowed to get a picture taken with Sara, though. The workers were directing people inside the building behind the stage. Once I got close to the entrance, Sara and Kaelin (Sara's fan club president and sister-in-law) left the bus and went into the building. The line moved pretty quickly and finally I got to meet Sara again. She was really nice. She seemed nicer than the first time I met her (not that she wasn't nice then). I got my picture taken with her and then she signed my 2 CD covers. She signed the second one really fast and she said, "Oh my God, I totally messed up my own signature." I told her that it was nice meeting her again, and I went back to my seat. By that time it was almost 9:00. John Berry was finishing up his set. It didn't take long for them to finish setting up Sara's stage.

Sara's band got on the stage about 9:10 and started playing the music to one of her new songs, Feel It Comin' On. I never heard the song before but it was really awesome. I can't wait until her album comes out. She interacted with the audience a lot during the show. She really got everyone excited and cheering. After mentioning her new album about 5 times she said, "Oh, did I mention I have a new album coming out on the 19th?" She was really amusing.

The second new song she sang was Rocking Horse. She said she wrote it with her brother Matt, who is also a member of her band. Before she sang, No Place That Far, she said it was just becoming a hit the last time she was in Clio. She also said she wrote it for her husband, Craig, which is how she always introduces the song. She did a cover of the song, Take It On The Run. I never really liked the song, but her version was great. It would be cool if she would record it someday. After she sang it she said, "I drank quite a few beverages to that song in the 80s." She paused and said, "No, I would never do that."

Before she sang Perfect, she said she also wrote that for her husband and it is going to be her new single. She said she filmed a video for it the week before, and it should be out soon. Her last song before the encore was her version of Long Train Runnin'. That song has become signature to her concerts. She said goodnight and she left with the band. A couple minutes later the band came back playing Born To Fly. She came back and ended the show with it. I really loved this concert. It was one of my favorites. Her voice really seemed to improve from the last time I saw her. She never missed a note and her vocal range definitely got stronger. She can really hold notes for a long time now. Not as long as Martina, but close! I'll definitely see Sara again next time she comes back.

This was her set list:

Feel it Comin' On
I Keep Looking
Rocking Horse
Saints and Angels
No Place That Far
To Be Happy
Take It On The Run
Backseat Of A Greyhound Bus
Perfect
I Could Not Ask for More
Long Train Runnin'
Born to Fly

Even though these pictures didn't come out that great, they are good compared to the way my concert pictures usually come out! The first two are from the meet & greet.
